HOTEL LICESNING INSPECTOR

What’s the Opportunity?

We are seeking services for the inspection and monitoring of hotels throughout The Bahamas, with the aim of ensuring compliance with the standards outlined in The Hotels Act (1970) and The Hotels Regulations (1971).  This opportunity plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, safety, and competitiveness of the hospitality sector in The Bahamas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel properties throughout The Bahamas.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Ensure adherence to The Hotels Act (1970) and The Hotels Regulations (1971).
  • Oversee the accurate collection and reporting of guest taxes.
  • Prepare and submit detailed written inspection reports to the Chief Licensing Officer, including recommendations for corrective actions where necessary.
  • Deliver licenses and official documents to Board Members, Government Agencies, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Investigate complaints received from the Visitor Relations Unit and provide timely resolutions.
  • Perform annual inspections of all licensed hotel establishments.
  • Carry out additional duties related to the hotel inspectorate function as assigned.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant area with minimum of five (5) years experience.  Hotel experience is an asset.

Key Competences:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all hotel establishments operating within The Bahamas.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with The Hotels Act (1970) and The Hotels Regulations (1971).
  • Possess a working understanding of the Local Government Act, its regulations, and other relevant legislation applicable to hotel operations and compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional correspondence and reports.
  • Strong knowledge of office procedures, administrative systems, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective coordination with the wider team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and discretion whilst handling sensitive information.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact with both the public, employees and industry partners.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
